Explorando el Columbia Slough 2007 was a great success and attracted
approximately 315 people.
Saturday, June 16th, 2007 was a day of mixed weather that offered downpours, sunshine, and everything in between! Despite the ever changing weather patterns, families and friends came to enjoy the fun activities and entertainment of Explorando el Columbia Slough.
Approximately 315 people participated
in a variety fun activities including canoeing
the Columbia Slough, aquatic insect classes, mural
painting and arts and crafts.
Representatives from a diverse set of organizations
were on hand to raise awareness in the Hispanic
community about a variety of important environmental
issues facing the Columbia Slough and its watershed.
Live performances wowed the crowd with beautiful music by Bajos Salarios, colorful attire and Folkloric dancing by Ballet Folklórico and imaginative bilingual stories told by Storyteller Will Hornyak.
environmental games and displays, arts and crafts, refreshments and more were enjoyed by all! A total of 202 visitors braved the downpours and enjoyed guided canoe trips with our dedicated canoe bimaran captains.
