13th Annual Columbia Slough Regatta
The Columbia Slough
Watershed Council would like to thank the many dedicated
volunteers, generous sponsors
and community partners who worked together
to make this year’s Columbia Slough Regatta
a tremendous success!
On Sunday July 29th,
2007, community members, political leaders, government
agencies and businesses
joined the Columbia Slough Watershed Council to celebrate and paddle the Slough at the 13th Annual
Columbia Slough Small Craft Regatta. This year
more than 480 people participated in the Regatta
while launching 302 boats onto the Slough for an
enjoyable paddle.
Many local organizations and agencies added to the festivities by hosting a table at the Regatta where they made many community contacts and shared their knowlege, organizational information and materials. Thank you!
The Columbia Slough Watershed
Council was delighted to host special guests including
Portland City Commissioner
Sam Adams, Metro Council President David Bragdon, Sue Knapp-
Natural Resources Policy Advisor for Governor Kulongoski, and Army Corps of Engineers Colonel Thomas O'Donovan.
The Regatta, which is the largest one-day community
paddling event in Oregon, is a celebration of the
progress that has been made toward transforming
the Slough into a cleaner and more vibrant habitat
and recreational resource.
