Outreach and Events Program Assistant

Position Duration: May - August 2017
Time Commitment: Approximately 15 hrs/week or 2 days/week (Flexible)
Compensation: $10/hour ($11.75 after July 1), no benefits

Position Description:
The Outreach and Events Program Assistant will support the Council’s Outreach and Events program with the planning and implementation of spring and summer recreation events, including Explorando, Regatta and Aquifer Adventure. Anticipated attendance at these events varies from 30 to 800 people. Secondarily the program assistant will receive training in and help to organize and deliver canoe and kayak-based educational programs and activities within the Columbia Slough Watershed. Learning and Benefits:
This position provides experience in strategic event planning, project management, multicultural communications, community outreach, outdoor education, and canoeing/kayaking. The program assistant will gain familiarity with the workings of a successful watershed council and small non-profit organization with numerous opportunities to network with local agencies and organizations.  Through this position, the program assistant will help create positive changes in the greater Portland metro area while developing their own skills and gaining work experience.
