Troy Clark

Troy Clark has had a 35-year close relationship with the Columbia Slough, particularly the area bordering Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area (SBWNA). He believes the Columbia Slough is an awesome resource as wildlife habitat and for recreation. Along with Forest Park, the country’s largest forested park in a city limits, and SBWNA,  the country’s largest freshwater wetland in a city, the Columbia Slough is among Portland’s most stunning urban natural areas. Troy sees these three treasures as worth our time, money and affections to protect.

Bob Dolphin

Bob is a retired Owens-Illinois Plant Engineer who joined the Columbia Slough Watershed Council Board as a business representative in the late 1990s, and has continued on as a neighborhood representative since his retirement in 2012. Drawn by Council’s mission of education, restoration, and promotion of the slough, Bob enjoys kayaking the slough for the peaceful respite in this urban environment.

JJ Bjordahl

JJ has been enchanted with the Slough since the mid-1990s, having first experienced it as a flash of mysterious riparian area under the highway while enroute to downtown. Having moved south from Vancouver, WA in the early 2000s, they have spent nearly twenty years working and volunteering on local community, education, arts and environmentally focused initiatives, with nonprofits and public agencies, both in the watershed and around our greater community. They hold an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science from Portland State and work as an Engineering Technician for Multnomah County. In their free time you can find them paddling the Slough, the Willamette, circumnavigating Cascade volcanoes, doing citizen science and looking for beautiful old trees in wilderness and forest.

Marisa Trujillo DeMull

Marisa Trujillo DeMull (she/her) is a mother, partner, and transportation engineer for Portland Bureau of Transportation. Her personal and professional life has been dedicated to uplifting the voices and labor of marginalized people. As a resident of the watershed, she is enthusiastic about bringing her unique perspective and lived experience to the Board. Daryl serves the Council representing Environmental Services for the City of Portland with an engagement focus. He promotes, paddles, and works to enhance the slough watershed and community through funding, collaborations, and activism.

Carrie Sanneman

Carrie is a government representative on the board from Multnomah County Drainage District, where she leads the environmental program and is working to integrate floodplain management strategies that improve flood safety and the health of the Columbia Slough. She sees the watershed council as a key partner in this work. One of her favorite things about the slough is the chance for urban wildlife encounters, like glimpses of a sturgeon, nesting turtles, or a group of stags on the cross levee near MCDD headquarters.

Adam Reese

Adam has served on the Council as a business representative since 2017.  He is an engineering geologist and co-owner of a geotechnical engineering consulting firm headquartered in the Portland Metro area. Adam holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Geoenvironmental Studies. In addition, Adam’s professional background includes geotechnical consulting related to the levees and interior drainage system within the watershed.

Through spending time within the watershed in a professional capacity, Adam gained an appreciation of the natural beauty of the Columbia Slough, as well as an understanding of the importance of this unique urban resource. In addition to serving on the Board and Executive Council of the CSWC, Adam is a Past-Chair of the Oregon Section of the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists (AEG), a Board Member on the Oregon State Board of Geologist Examiners (OSBGE), a Friend of BDI for the Business Diversity Institute (BDI), and a Past-President of the Portland Bocce League Association (PBLA). When he’s not working or serving in these roles, Adam enjoys hiking, whitewater rafting, and travel adventures with his wife and two children.
