Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council and the Flood Safety District for a bike tour of a section of our levee system. Our route will take us along Marine Drive, into the Bridgeton Neighborhood, to Delta Park, and back to the District office for a 5-mile slow paced ride.
Getting there: Our meeting/starting point will be at the Flood Safety District, located at 1880 NE Elrod Dr. Portland Oregon 97218. There will be free parking available. Feel free to ride to our starting point, as well.
Guest Speaker: A special guest speaker, in which they will share about their lived experience during the Vanport Floods. This guest speaker will be meeting us at Delta Park, where we will take a break for snacks, hydration, and conversation.
What to bring: Pack along water, any necessary snacks and come prepared for the weather - we will be riding rain or shine. Helmets will be required for all riders throughout the event. Free snacks and drinks will be provided before and after the ride.
Accessibility: A restroom will be available at the beginning of the ride. Most of the route is located on multi-use paths and other protected bike infrastructure and sidewalks. There will be some gravel areas we will ride through. Please make sure your bike is ready to ride - tires inflated, brakes functional, shifting works, etc.
