Bird Walk at Smith and Bybee

  • Smith & Bybee Wetlands 5300 North Marine Drive Portland, OR, 97203 United States (map)

Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council and Bird Guide Ryan Gilpin, from Nidus Consulting for a morning of Birding at Smith & Bybee Wetlands. Explore the beautiful nature park and discover what birds may be flying, as we walk and practice identifying birds! This is a rain or shine event. All ages are welcome. Participants under the age of 18, will need to be accompanied by a parent, adult, or legal guardian.

What to bring: Dress for the weather and bring water. Snacks and drinks will be available. We will have extra binoculars. Bring yours, if you have them! Dogs are not allowed in this park because they can damage sensitive habitat and threaten wildlife.

Getting There: We will meet at the boat launch at Smith & Bybee Wetlands Natural Area, located just past the main parking lot - look out for the Columbia Slough Watershed Council sign. Parking is free, but may require a short walk from the main parking lot to the launch area.

Taking public transportation? Bus #11 stops on the 5300 block of N Marine Dr, about 0.5 miles from the entrance to Smith & Bybee.

Accessibility: We will be following a gentle paved trail with some tree roots which ends at a wheelchair accessible viewing platform. The parking and restrooms are wheelchair accessible as well.
