Johnson Lake Cleanup

  • Johnson Lake Property NE Glass Plant Rd & NE Simpson St Portland, OR 97220 (map)

Join the Columbia Slough Watershed Council for a clean up event at the Johnson Lake Property in NE Portland on Saturday, Feb. 11th from 1:30-3:30 pm! Note updated date/time.

We'll be removing litter and dumped materials from the area around Glass Plant Road and the lake, including the lakeside embankment, the trail through the woods, working into the woods along the lake and slough. A few volunteers may want to haul tires and bigger items up the embankment, but there's plenty to keep everyone busy.

Age Limit: This event is best suited for those 18 and older. Minors 16 and older are permitted if accompanied by an adult.

Getting There: We will meet at NE Glass Plant Rd & NE Simpson St (near Acme Storage). Look out for the Columbia Slough Watershed Council table and sign! Free parking is available along the side of the road. Taking public transportation? Bus #87 makes the closest stop to the Johnson Lake Property by dropping riders off at NE 105th & Simpson, a 0.5 mile walk.

What to bring: Pack along water and come prepared for the weather - think warm layers, shoes you don't mind getting dirty and waterproof jackets. Columbia Slough Watershed Council will have trash bags, trash pickers, work gloves and visibility vests. We will have some snacks and a hot beverage to share if you want to bring your own mug, or borrow one of ours!

Accessibility: A porta-potty will be on site for the duration of our event. Our work area contains paved flat road, as well options to work in areas along the sloped embankment and in overgrown areas of the woods. Participants are welcome to choose the areas where they feel most comfortable.
