Owl Prowl (for Womxn, Queer, Trans, and Non-Binary Participants)

  • Whitaker Ponds 7040 Northeast 47th Avenue Portland, OR, 97218 United States (map)

Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council, local organization Birdhers, and resident owl expert Elaine Murphy for a free outdoor night walk at Whitaker Ponds Nature Park. This event is for womxn, queer, non-binary and trans people of all ages.

Owls are vocal ventriloquists and nighttime predators who court and establish their territory during the fall and winter months, making them more vocal. Our group will meet in the parking lot and kick off this event with some background information from Elaine, and then together, walk the .5 mile loop at Whitaker Ponds.

What to bring: Pack along water and warm layers. Columbia Slough Watershed Council will have snacks as well as a hot beverage to share! *Don't have a warm/waterproof jacket? Reach out to Amanda.

Accessibility: Free parking is available and a porta-potty is located in the parking lot at Whitaker Ponds. The loop around Whitaker Ponds is a mostly flat 0.5 mile dirt trail.

Public Transportation: Bus #75 drops riders off at NE 47th Ave and Columbia Blvd, a .25 mile walk from Whitaker Ponds.

Birdhers: BirdHers is a local community organization who facilitate weekly free bird walks for womxn, queer, non-binary and trans folks. Visit their website, or follow them on Instagram to learn more (@birdherspdx).
