Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council and local meet up group, Butch Support Group, for an evening of paddling at Whitaker Ponds Nature Park in NE Portland! This all ages event event is exclusively for LGBTQIA+ community members and their families. Advance registration required.
Things to Bring: Water and snacks you need. You will not need to enter the water, but shoes you don’t mind getting a little wet are a great idea. Don’t forget sunglasses and a sunhat. All quipment, canoes, paddles, life vests, dry bags, light snacks, and cold drinks will be provided at no charge.
Getting There: We’ll meet at Whitaker Ponds. Parking is free, however limited - carpool if possible. Taking public transportation? Bus #75 stops at NE 47th Ave and Columbia Blvd. Walk north on NE 47th Ave about 0.25 miles, and Whitaker Ponds Nature Park will be on your right.
Accessibility: A porta potty is available. Previous paddling experience is not required. There is a short walk from the parking lot to the canoe launch, part of it on an uneven gravel path.
