Tackle the Weeds: Hands-On Tool Training for Gardeners

  • Wilkes Creek 3655 Northeast 154th Avenue Portland, OR, 97230 United States (map)

East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District is excited to partner with the Columbia Slough Watershed Council to present a Tackle the Weeds: Hands-On Tool Training for Gardeners workshop.

Join us for a hands-on workshop on effective weed removal using a variety of gardening tools. We’ll cover proper tool use, safety tips, and how to select the right tool for different types of weeds. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice these skills by removing common weeds at Wilkes Creek. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gardener, this workshop will equip you with practical skills to tackle invasive plants more efficiently and confidently.

Please come prepared by wearing long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes to stay safe and comfortable while working outdoors.

Event Update, 3/30/26: Originally planned for Whitaker Ponds, the event location is moving to Wilkes Creek Park. Address is updated on this event page. We will be working in the green space across from Wilkes Creek Park.

Accessibility Notes:

Water: Water is provided; however, we recommend participants bringing a reusable water bottle to reduce single use plastic.

Parking: Free street parking within neighborhood.

Snacks: Light snacks are available, including gluten-free and vegan options.
