Autumn Garden Service Day
Saturday October 20, 9:00am - 1:00pm
Join the Columbia Slough Watershed Council, Oregon Food Bank, Mudbone Grown and the Oregon Inter-Tribal Breastfeeding Coalition for a morning of joint service work. Volunteers will get a chance to rotate through each station and work alongside each organization, gaining new skills while learning about the organization’s mission. Bring closed-toed shoes, a water bottle, and raingear. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
Station 1: Come restore the waterways of the Columbia Slough by volunteering with the Columbia Slough Watershed Council. Help us remove non-native plants and replace them with native shrubs that provide habitat for wildlife, prevent erosion, and cool the water for aquatic life. Get dirty with us and help improve the watershed!
Station 2: Join Oregon Food Bank at the Eastside Learning Garden. We’ll be clearing beds, planting cover crop, improving pathways, clearing irrigation lines, and getting the garden ready for the winter.
Station 3: Join Mudbone Grown at Unity Farm. We’ll be harvesting fall crops, planting cover crop, clearing irrigation lines, and getting the farm ready for the winter.
Station 4: Join the Oregon-Inter Tribal Breastfeeding Coalition at the Wombyn’s Wellness Garden. We’ll be clearing the garden beds and getting it ready for the winter.
If you are able to bring one or more of the nonperishable items below - the Oregon Food Bank and your community would greatly appreciate it!
