Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council and facilitator Julie Jansen of Earthbody Presence for a unique experience combining forest bathing and yoga! This event is free and open to those 14 and older. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
On July 31st, join Julie Jansen of Earthbody Presence in collaboration with Columbia Slough Watershed Council for yoga and forest bathing at sunset. We’ll gather at Whitaker Ponds Natural Area at 7pm. This free offering will help you unwind your mind and body on a beautiful Friday evening in mid-Summer.
To start the experience we’ll move through a gentle, accessible yoga practice to feel grounded. Then we’ll go on a forest bathing walk, moving slowly and intentionally through the natural world.
Forest bathing, also called forest therapy, is inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku. It’s a guided experience that allows you to connect with nature, community, and with yourself. Julie, your guide, will offer a series of mindful invitations to explore the natural environment with care and appreciation. Each invitation is crafted to connect your senses with the natural world, calming your nervous system and nourishing your whole self.
Our experience ends sipping handcrafted tea in a gorgeous meadow. Julie creates the tea using plants she sustainable harvests throughout the Pacific Northwest. Together we’ll watch the sunset and witness the first stars as they appear in the sky.
Julie Jansen is a certified Forest Therapy Guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy and a yoga teacher at PSU. She will lead our small group for this experience.
